  <description>Greetings Glocal Citizens!
This week’s episode has been in the making since Episode 122 (https://glocalcitizens.fireside.fm/122) guest, Natasha Moore (https://glocalcitizens.fireside.fm/guests/natasha-d-moore). I’m joined by interdisciplinary artist, choreographer, scholar and educator, specializing in dance forms of the African Diaspora, Winston Benons, Jr. He has extensive training in Afro-Cuban, Haitian, Afro-Brazilian, and Bomba dance, complemented by studies in Horton and Dunham modern dance techniques. He has curated and led intensive programs in culture and dance techniques in both New York City and Cuba. He is the Founder and Director of tRúe Culture &amp;amp; Arts, an organization dedicated to facilitating cultural exchanges, workshops, and academic residencies.
His works and studies have explored the intersections between Theater and Performance Studies, Curation and Visual Culture culminating in his graduate thesis entitled Marked: The Racialization Of African Phenotypes And Creation Of An Embodied Archive. Also an educator, he served as a lecturer at Pace University and an adjunct faculty member at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. He has also held guest faculty positions at Ballet Hispánico, Peridance, Djoniba Dance &amp;amp; Drum, and Cumbe. He is currently the US/MS IB Dance educator at Brooklyn Friends School (https://brooklynfriends.org).
Recent choreography and direction credits include Amahl and the NIght Visitors (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amahl_and_the_Night_Visitors) and What Lies Beneath (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_Lies_Beneath) with On Site Opera (https://osopera.org/), where he also served as the cultural advocate. Most recently, he developed and performed part 1 of a series entitled Conversations with Rothko at the SMART Museum (https://smartmuseum.uchicago.edu/) in Chicago.

  <description>Greetings Glocal Citizens!
This week I’m joined by a longtime friend as we both were about to hit the road for weekend adventures fitting our global missions. Photographer, Dante Bowen Hendricks found his calling as a young boy in Guyana when his uncle gifted him a rotating globe that sparked Dante's fascination with world cultures. After immigrating to Brooklyn as a teen, Dante set aside his passion for photography to work in his family's shipping business. But a trip back home reignited his love for the art.
Dante dove into developing his skills, studying at the International Center of Photography. Though he does commercial work digitally, Dante prefers shooting personal projects on film. He's exhibited in New York as well as Baltimore and is new local, New Orleans. He is also a co-contributor along with fellow Brooklyn-bred photographer, Phillip Moi-Thuk-Shung (http://phillipshung.com) to Inferno, a forthcoming book of photo essays. Dance and spiritual traditions are among Dante's favorite subjects. His distinct style retains a sense of childlike wonder, conveying cultures with sensitivity and nuance. Listen as Dante shares his globetrotting journey of discovering both himself and the world through his lens.

  <description>Greetings Glocal Citizens!
This two part experience will takes us on a journey through multiple planes of being and thought with my guest, fashion designer and trend setter, Terry Singh. Born and raised in Guyana to parents of Indian heritage, Terry has called New York City, home for most of his life. After a life changing journey to the country of his heritage, he has since bloomed into his current creative flow as the visionary behind his Terry Singh NYC fashion label. As a former adman of who is now the vision behind his own fashion brand, Terry's aim is to translate the practicality and elegance of the traditional Indian dhoti for a Western consumer.  With multiple shows appearing at New York Fashion Week and features at this year’s New York Men’s Day, he’s created a buzz on the pages of the New York Times, Vogue, and WWD, to name a few. When asked about his aesthetic he shares, “I used to be inhibited about what I wore,” “I kept my head down because I felt people were staring. Then I realized I don’t know what’s in people’s minds, and I started to dress for myself. A question I always ask people is, ‘If today were your last day on earth, what would you wear?’ Dress like that.” Terry's fashions are also blooming with his leisurewear brand I AM U TOO (https://iamutoo.com/).
