  <description>Greetings Glocal Citizens!
Increasingly, I am thinking thoughts about places of being that better reflect citizen-centered social, economic and built enviroments. In recent conversation with Paul Damalie (https://glocalcitizens.fireside.fm/guests/paul-kwesi-damalie) and following the works of another fellow GC, Chinedu Echeruo (https://www.linkedin.com/newsletters/beloved-ecosystem-6923267349097680896/) (which happens to be how I came across this week’s guest), those thoughts are beginning to rise into a mental framework for manifesting that new world. Born and raised in Nigeria, Victor Ndukwe is an Architect that has evolved over the years straddle tech and design. He is currently a founding team member of Itana (formerly Talent City) (https://www.itana.africa) and is positioned to change the environmental and economic landscape in Africa.
Victor developed a keen mind for technical things in his formative years and honed his creativity in architecture school. He is a T-shaped individual (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-shaped_skills) with strong skills in Architecture and environmental planning and secondary skills in programming - a hardcore java developer once upon a time. He has worked in architecture firms, software development firms, real estate development firms, and now city developers. He has his eyes set on developing the infrastructure in Africa by unlocking capital for development as well as solving the critical problem of energy in Africa. Victor’s optimism and committment are clear as you’ll come to understand in our conversation, and with this blueprint, his vision is looking like a present many on the Continent have been anticipating.

  <description>Holiday greetings Glocal Citizens!
This week on the podcast is the first of a two part conversations with architect, artist and multi-faceted creative, Robertson Ahomka-Lindsay. Until returning back to Ghana in 2020, Robertson spent the majority of his life in the UK where he practiced architecture and explored his many other talents. He is the CEO and founder of Vivarco Studio, a multimedia and architectural design studio specializing in Tropical Modernism embracing eco and sustainable technologies. His interest in tropical modernism embraces the concept of using traditional Ghanaian creative heritage and materials to influence one’s creative approach and execution of design.
After years in the making, in 2019 Ghana emerge as the official return destination (https://www.yearofreturn.com), not only for African Diasporans, also for Ghanaians as well. This conversation is a reality check of sorts spotlighting how to manage the start-up and sustaining a life lived in Africa. As 2023 starts, surely this week and next are a great resource for introspection and exploration of what could be for a life abroad.

<description>Welcome back to the Glocal Citizens Podcast. We'll be spending the next two episodes with interdisciplinary artist, photographer, and architect--Asare Adjei. Asare is a Ghanaian-British living and working between London (UK) and Accra (Ghana). Asare’s work captures an essence of humanity and the duality of existence by the juxtaposing of various visual elements, materials and symbology to create a unique new style. He creates vibrant artworks by the blending, shaping and merging of myriad African visual textures with cosmology and architectural influences. He utilizes his art to explore his Ghanaian heritage and what it means for him to be an African; his work is a love letter to Africa and an appreciation for its movement towards the future. Asare studied Architecture at East London University and worked as an Architect for 12 years prior to pursuing his passion for Fine Art and Photography. He has worked most notably with the prestigious architect Sir David Adjaye. Asare has had his photography works published in The Guardian Newspaper, and has exhibited artworks in group exhibitions at Rebecca Hossack Gallery (Mayfair/UK), Level 39 (Canary Wharf/UK), The Black and White building (Shoreditch/UK) and MeWe360 (Soho/UK). He has also exhibited in a number of pop-up galleries in Accra (Ghana/Africa) and has been shortlisted for a variety of art awards including Art Gemini Prize, Creativepool Annual/etc.
In Part 2, we talk global citizenship, migration and Asare's sonic inspirations.
